Het programma ratarmount (random access tar mount) is ontworpen voor het monteren van archiefbestanden in een bestandssysteem en stelt in staat om via FUSE niet alleen tar-bestanden (gecomprimeerd met bz2, gz, xz of zstd) te monteren, maar ook zip en rar. De nieuwe release 1.0.0 is beschikbaar voor installatie via pip en AppImage.<\/p>\n

Er zijn verschillende kenmerken die ratarmount onderscheiden van de bestaande archivemount. Ten eerste is de toegang tot de gemonteerde bestanden in feite snel, ongeacht de grootte van het archief. Bijvoorbeeld, voor archieven van 100 GB spreken we over milliseconden vertraging met ratarmount in plaats van uren vertraging met archivemount. Bovendien heeft ratarmount een parallelle bz2- en xz-decodering, en biedt het geavanceerde functies zoals het maken van een indexbestand voor snelle toegang, gecombineerde montage, gebonden montage en zelfs willekeurig diepere recursieve montage.<\/p>\n
