De bibliotheek is geschreven in de programmeertaal C en wordt verdeeld onder de GNU GPL 2 licentie met een speciale uitzondering voor linking, waardoor de broncode niet openbaar hoeft te worden gemaakt.<\/p>\n<p><\/noindex><\/noindex> <\/p>\n<p>Er wordt verwacht dat dit de laatste release in de 1.x-serie zal zijn, en de volgende versie zal libgit2 v2.0 zijn, waarin de ondersteuning voor SHA256 de status van 'experiment' zal overnemen naar 'ondersteund'. Dit betekent dat er wijzigingen in de API en ABI zullen worden aangebracht om SHA256 te ondersteunen, evenals andere brekende veranderingen.<\/p>\n<p>Belangrijkste wijzigingen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>De documentatie van de API is verbeterd: <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/libgit2.org\/docs\/reference\">https:\/\/libgit2.org\/docs\/reference<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>De selectie van TLS-encryptie is bijgewerkt om overeen te komen met <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mozilla.org\/Security\/Server_Side_TLS\">de 'compatibiliteit' cipher suite van Mozilla.<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>De blame API is verbeterd.<\/li>\n<li>De experimentele console-tool git2-experimental heeft de commando's blame en init toegevoegd.<\/li>\n<li>Nu wordt bij het gebruik van de CMake optie -DUSE_SHA1= een waarschuwing weergegeven dat het aanbevolen is om de SHA1DC-algoritme (SHA1 met collision detection) te gebruiken.<\/li>\n<li>Een aantal belangrijke veranderingen die de ABI breken.<\/li>\n<li>Talrijke
