Het Ubuntu-project zal vanaf 1 maart Matrix gebruiken als het offici\u00eble platform voor de communicatie van ontwikkelaars. De tot nu toe gebruikte communicatiekanalen in IRC worden als verouderd beschouwd. In een gehouden stemming onder ontwikkelaars die bij Canonical werken, stemden 10 deelnemers voor de overstap naar Matrix, 1 tegen en 6 vroegen om een openbaar debat. Een discussie over de wenselijkheid van de migratie naar Matrix vond plaats op de mailinglijst ubuntu-devel, waarna het technische comit\u00e9 (Ubuntu Technical Board) besloot tot migratie. <\/p>\n

Offici\u00eble communicatie, zoals realtime aanvragen aan de bevoegde teams van Ubuntu-ontwikkelaars, zal voortaan uitsluitend via Matrix plaatsvinden. Medewerkers van Canonical die betrokken zijn bij de ontwikkeling van Ubuntu, zijn verplicht deze platform gedurende hun werktijd te gebruiken. De IRC-kanaal '#ubuntu-devel' zal worden vervangen door de matrix-kamer '#devel:ubuntu.com', en '#ubuntu-release' zal worden vervangen door '#release:ubuntu.com'.
