Bedrijf Meta* heeft de release van de grafische bibliotheek IGL 1.1 (Intermediate Graphics Library) gepubliceerd, die een universele low-level API biedt voor GPU-beheer. De IGL API dekt standaardfunctionaliteit van GPU's en stelt ontwikkelaars in staat om cross-platform toepassingen te maken die draaien op grafische API's zoals OpenGL, Metal en Vulkan op systemen met Android, iOS, Linux, macOS en Windows, en om WebGL te gebruiken voor rendering in het web bij compilatie naar WebAssembly tussencode. De IGL-bibliotheek is geschreven in C++ en wordt verspreid onder de MIT-licentie. <\/p>\n

Voor rendering zijn er back-ends beschikbaar voor de APIs Metal 2+, OpenGL 2.x, OpenGL 3.1+, OpenGL ES 2.0+, Vulkan 1.1 en WebGL 2.0. De bibliotheek is geschikt voor het ontwikkelen van games, 3D-modelleringssystemen en andere projecten die ondersteuning voor hoogwaardige graphics vereisen. De IGL-code is geoptimaliseerd voor maximale prestaties, zelfs bij het werken met complexe en gedetailleerde modellen. <\/p>\n

De structuur van de API is ontworpen met het oog op gebruiksgemak en implementeert standaardconcepten die begrijpelijk zijn voor de meeste ontwikkelaars die bekend zijn met een van de grafische API's.
