Na een jaar ontwikkeling heeft SUSE de release van de SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP7-distributie aangekondigd. Op basis van het SUSE Linux Enterprise-platform zijn producten ontwikkeld zoals SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, SUSE Linux Enterprise High Performance Computing en SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension. De distributie kan gratis worden gedownload en gebruikt, maar toegang tot updates en patches is beperkt tot een proefperiode van 60 dagen. De release is beschikbaar in builds voor de architecturen aarch64, ppc64le, s390x en x86_64. De release zal worden ondersteund tot juni 2031, exclusief de uitgebreide LTSS-ondersteuningsprogramma's die tot 2034 en 2037 zullen doorgaan. <\/p>\n
In tegenstelling tot eerdere releases is het niet gepland om de release van openSUSE Leap 15.7 op basis van SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP7 te vormen. In plaats van openSUSE Leap 15.6 zal de release openSUSE Leap 16.0 komen, waarvan de release in de herfst wordt verwacht. openSUSE Leap 16 is gebaseerd op technologie\u00ebn uit de ontwikkelingsbranch van SUSE Linux Enterprise 16, maar behoudt de kenmerken van de klassieke distributie die traditionele pakketten gebruikt. In openSUSE Leap 16 is een nieuwe installer betrokken, is de overstap naar een verplichte toegangscontrolesysteem (SELinux) gerealiseerd en is alleen ondersteuning voor Wayland behouden. <\/p>\n
