De ontwikkelaars van de Artix Linux-distributie hebben experimentele builds gepresenteerd, die zijn overgestapt op het gebruik van XLibre, een fork van de X.Org Server. Artix Linux is gebaseerd op de pakketbasis van Arch Linux en is opmerkelijk vanwege het gebruik van in plaats van systemd, systeembeheerders zoals openrc, runit, dinit en s6, naar keuze van de gebruiker. Voor tests zijn er XLibre-builds met de desktopomgevingen Xfce, Cinnamon en MATE, met een grootte van 2 GB, evenals een volledige build van 4,6 GB. Binnenkort willen ze XLibre ook gebruiken in de standaardbuilds van de distributie. Gebruikers van bestaande Artix Linux-installaties kunnen overstappen naar XLibre door het pakket xlibre-xserver en de benodigde xlibre-xf86-* drivers uit de repository 'galaxy-gremlins' te installeren.
