Among the recent achievements of GNU\/Hurd:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> In the Debian GNU\/Hurd distribution, the ability to build 75% of packages from the Debian archive is ensured (this figure was 58% in 2023).\n<li class=\"l\"> The port for the x86_64 architecture has been stabilized, enabling the formation of Debian packages for x86_64 systems, and porting to ARM64 systems has begun.\n<li class=\"l\"> Initial support for SMP (Symmetric multiprocessing) has been added.\n<li class=\"l\"> Improved support for user-space drivers through the utilization of the rump mechanism (Runnable Userspace Meta Program) developed by the NetBSD project.\n<li class=\"l\"> User-space drivers for SATA\/USB disks and network adapters have been prepared.\n<li class=\"l\"> User-space stacks for USB and TCP\/IP have been implemented.\n<li class=\"l\"> Building packages with Xfce, GNOME, KDE, llvm in Debian GNU\/Hurd is ensured.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for the languages go, rust, ocaml, ghc, java has been added.\n<li class=\"l\"> A Guix\/Hurd distribution has been created with the option to use the GNU Hurd kernel (x86_64-gnu) instead of the Linux kernel.\n<li class=\"l\"> Projects to create variations of Arch and Alpine distributions with the GNU Hurd kernel have started.      <\/ul>\n<p>GNU Hurd is a kernel being developed as a replacement for the Unix kernel and is arranged as a set <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/nl\/server\/\"   title=\"servers\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1810\">servers<\/a>, operating on top of the GNU Mach microkernel and implementing various system services such as file systems, network stack, file access control system. The GNU Mach microkernel provides an IPC mechanism used to organize the interaction of GNU Hurd components and to build a distributed multi-server architecture. The Debian GNU\/Hurd distribution combines the Debian software environment with the GNU\/Hurd kernel and remains the only actively developed Debian platform built on a kernel different from Linux (the
