Als init-systeem wordt systemd gebruikt en het pakketbeheer verloopt via APT. Het project maakt gebruik van een eigen pakketrepository. Voor de consoleversie wordt de Debian Installer gebruikt, terwijl in de grafische edities Calamares wordt ingezet. De architecturen amd64, i386 en arm64 worden ondersteund.    <\/p>\n<p>Standaard wordt B1ackOS geleverd in een minimale configuratie, vergelijkbaar met Arch Linux: na de installatie krijgt de gebruiker een vrijwel leeg systeem met de Fish-shell, dat naar wens kan worden aangepast om een werkomgeving te cre\u00ebren die bij specifieke taken past.     <\/p>\n<p>Voor gebruikers die direct na de installatie een kant-en-klare werkomgeving nodig hebben, wordt er een versie aangeboden met de desktop Cinnamon en een vooraf ge\u00efnstalleerde set applicaties (browser Chromium, kantoorpakket ONLYOFFICE, grafische editor Krita, videospeler Clapper en app store MintInstall).
