Het probleem wordt veroorzaakt door een fout in de implementatie van vensterfuncties en manifesteert zich vanaf de tak <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=49282\">SQLite 3.26<\/a><\/noindex>. De kwetsbaarheid <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sqlite.org\/src\/info\/884b4b7e502b4e99\">opgelost<\/a><\/noindex> in de aprilversie <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sqlite.org\/releaselog\/3_28_0.html\">SQLite 3.28<\/a><\/noindex> zonder expliciete vermelding van het oplossen van veiligheidsproblemen.<\/p>\n<p>Een speciaal opgemaakte SQL-query SELECT kan leiden tot toegang tot al vrijgegeven geheugengebieden (use-after-free), wat potentieel kan worden gebruikt om een exploit te cre\u00ebren voor het uitvoeren van eigen code in de context van de applicatie die SQLite gebruikt. De kwetsbaarheid kan worden ge\u00ebxploiteerd als de applicatie de overdracht van SQL-constructies van externe bronnen naar SQLite toestaat. <\/p>\n<p>Bijvoorbeeld, een aanval kan potentieel worden uitgevoerd op de browser Chrome en applicaties die de Chromium-engine gebruiken, aangezien de WebSQL-API bovenop SQLite is ge\u00efmplementeerd en deze database aanroept voor het verwerken van SQL-queries vanuit webapplicaties.
