De release van updates voor versie 9.4 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.postgresql.org\/support\/versioning\/\">duurt<\/a><\/noindex>   tot december 2019, 9.5 tot januari 2021, 9.6 \u2014 tot september 2021, 10 \u2014 tot oktober 2022, 11 \u2014 tot november 2023. <\/p>\n<p>In de nieuwe versies zijn 25 bugs opgelost en is een kwetsbaarheid (CVE-2019-10164) verholpen die kan leiden tot een buffer-overflow wanneer een gebruiker zijn wachtwoord wijzigt. Met deze kwetsbaarheid kan een lokale aanvaller met toegang tot PostgreSQL door het instellen van een zeer lang wachtwoord code uitvoeren met de rechten van de gebruiker waaronder de databasebeheerder draait. Bovendien kan de kwetsbaarheid worden misbruikt aan de kant van de gebruiker tijdens de SCRAM-authenticatie met een client gebaseerd op libpq, wanneer de gebruiker verbinding maakt met een PostgreSQL-server die door de aanvaller wordt gecontroleerd.
