Situatie<\/a><\/noindex> De afschaffing van 32-bits pakketten in Ubuntu heeft een nieuwe impuls voor ontwikkeling gekregen. Op het discussieplatform heeft Steve Langasek van Canonical Toevoeging: dimisa verduidelijkte zijn positie uitgebreider<\/a><\/noindex>, aangegeven dat hij van plan is om bibliotheekpakketten uit Ubuntu 18.04 te gebruiken. Dit zal het mogelijk maken om games en applicaties voor de x86-architectuur te gebruiken, maar er zal geen ondersteuning voor de bibliotheken zelf zijn. Met andere woorden, ze blijven in de status die ze hebben gekregen in Ubuntu 18.04.<\/p>\n

Een andere optie is het draaien van games en applicaties in de omgeving van Ubuntu 18.04 of als snap-pakketten in runtime core18. Dit is echter ongeschikt voor gebruik met Wine. Daarnaast zal de afschaffing van 32-bits bibliotheken leiden tot incompatibiliteit van sommige Linux-drivers voor printers. Als gevolg hiervan is Valve van plan om de offici\u00eble ondersteuning voor Steam in Ubuntu 19.10 en toekomstige builds stop te zetten.<\/p>\n

In plaats van Ubuntu is het de bedoeling om een andere distributie te gebruiken, maar het is nog niet duidelijk welke versie dat zal zijn. Hierbij merken we op dat het probleem ook Linux Mint en enkele andere afgeleiden distributies zal treffen. Aan de andere kant kan de situatie de 'zoo' van huidige besturingssystemen verkleinen en leiden tot een meer gestandaardiseerde vorm.<\/p>\n
