Het LibreSSL-project richt zich op kwalitatieve ondersteuning van SSL\/TLS-protocollen door overbodige functionaliteit te verwijderen, aanvullende beveiligingsmaatregelen toe te voegen en een aanzienlijke schoonmaak en herstructurering van de codebasis uit te voeren. De release van LibreSSL 3.0.0 wordt beschouwd als experimenteel, waarin mogelijkheden worden ontwikkeld die in OpenBSD 6.6 zullen worden opgenomen. De aanzienlijke wijziging van het versienummer is gerelateerd aan het gebruik van decimale nummering (na 2.9 komt versie 3.0).<\/p>\n<p>Kenmerken van LibreSSL 3.0.0: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> De portering van de structuur uit OpenSSL 1.1 is afgerond <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.openssl.org\/docs\/man1.0.2\/man3\/RSA_new_method.html\">RSA_METHOD<\/a><\/noindex>, dat verschillende implementaties van functies voor RSA mogelijk maakt;\n<li class=\"l\"> De documentatie is bijgewerkt, waarin eerder niet beschreven opties zijn opgenomen en niet-functionerende opties zijn verwijderd;\n<li class=\"l\"> Problemen die zijn vastgesteld door middel van de oss-fuzz-test zijn opgelost;\n<li class=\"l\"> Verschillende informatielekken via externe kanalen in de DSA- en ECDSA-implementaties zijn opgelost;\n<li class=\"l\"> Op het Windows-platform is in de openssl-tool de opdracht &#171;speed&#187; opgenomen en zijn er prestatie-optimalisaties aangebracht bij het
