De ontwikkeling van CUPS wordt volledig gecontroleerd door Apple, die in 2007 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=11392\">het<\/a><\/noindex> de firma Easy Software Products, die CUPS heeft ontwikkeld. <\/p>\n<p>Met deze uitgave is de licentie voor de code veranderd van GPLv2 en LGPLv2 naar Apache 2.0, waardoor externe bedrijven de CUPS-code in hun producten kunnen gebruiken zonder wijzigingen openbaar te maken, en daarnaast kan licentiecompatibiliteit met andere open projecten van Apple, zoals Swift, WebKit en mDNSResponder, worden bereikt. De Apache 2.0-licentie definieert ook duidelijk de overdracht van rechten op gepatenteerde technologie\u00ebn samen met de code. Een negatief gevolg van de wijziging van licentie van GPL naar Apache is het verlies van licentiecompatibiliteit met projecten die alleen onder de GPLv2-licentie worden geleverd (de Apache 2.0-licentie is compatibel met GPLv3, maar niet met GPLv2). Om dit probleem op te lossen, is in de licentieovereenkomst een speciale uitzondering voor de code onder de GPLv2\/LGPLv2-licenties toegevoegd.<\/p>\n<p>Belangrijkste <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cups.org\/doc\/relnotes.html\">wijzigingen<\/a><\/noindex> in CUPS 2.3:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Er is ondersteuning toegevoegd voor presets en de eigenschap &#171;<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/ftp.pwg.org\/pub\/pwg\/candidates\/cs-ippfinishings20-20141219-5100.1.pdf\">finishing<\/a><\/noindex>&#187; in de printopdracht sjablonen voor het protocol <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pwg.org\/ipp\/everywhere.html\">IPP Everywhere<\/a><\/noindex>, dat middelen biedt voor dynamische selectie van beschikbare printers in het netwerk, het detecteren van printers, het verzenden van verzoeken en het uitvoeren van afdrukbewerkingen, zowel direct als via tussenliggende hosts;\n<li class=\"l\"> Een nieuwe tool is toegevoegd, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cups.org\/doc\/man-ippeveprinter.html\">ippeveprinter<\/a><\/noindex> , met de implementatie van een eenvoudige IPP Everywhere-server die kan worden gebruikt voor het testen van clientsoftware of het uitvoeren van opdrachten voor elke afdruktaak;\n<li class=\"l\"> In het lpstat-commando is een weergave van de status van het pauzeren van nieuwe afdruktaken ge\u00efmplementeerd;\n<li class=\"l\"> In de libcups-bibliotheek is ondersteuning voor HTTP Digest-authenticatie en SHA-256 toegevoegd;\n<li class=\"l\"> In de implementatie van het protocol voor het delen van printers,  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bonjour\">Bonjour<\/a><\/noindex> , is gebruik gemaakt van DNS-SD-namen bij het registreren van printers in het netwerk;\n<li class=\"l\"> In het ipptool is de mogelijkheid om IPP-serverattributen te bestandsregistreren toegevoegd;\n<li class=\"l\"> In de SSLOptions-directive is ondersteuning voor de MinTLS- en MaxTLS-opties toegevoegd om de gebruikte TLS-versies te selecteren;\n<li class=\"l\"> In &#171;client.conf&#187; is ondersteuning toegevoegd voor de directive UserAgentTokens;\n<li class=\"l\"> De systemd-service voor het starten van cupsd is bijgewerkt;\n<li class=\"l\"> In het lpoptions-team is de mogelijkheid toegevoegd om met IPP Everywhere-printers te werken die niet aan lokale afdruktaken zijn toegevoegd.\n<li class=\"l\"> De IPP Everywhere-driver heeft correcte ondersteuning gekregen voor printers met duplex afdrukmodus.\n<li class=\"l\"> Regels zijn toegevoegd om rekening te houden met de kenmerken van USB-printers zoals Lexmark E120n, Lexmark Optra E310, Zebra, DYMO 450 Turbo, Canon MP280, Xerox en HP LaserJet P1102.\n<li class=\"l\"> Kwetsbaarheden zijn
