De daemon evalueert geheugenlacunes via \/proc\/pressure\/memory en wanneer een drempel wordt overschreden, stuurt hij via DBus een verzoek aan processen om hun geheugengebruik te verminderen. De daemon kan ook proberen de responsiviteit van het systeem te behouden door te schrijven naar \/proc\/sysrq-trigger. <\/p>\n<p>In combinatie met het werk dat in Fedora is gedaan voor het toepassen <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/pagure.io\/fedora-workstation\/issue\/98\">zram<\/a><\/noindex> en het afschaffen van swapgeheugen, stelt de low-memory-monitor in staat om de responsiviteit en prestaties op de meeste werkstations te verbeteren. Het project is geschreven in C en <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.freedesktop.org\/hadess\/low-memory-monitor\/\">wordt geleverd<\/a><\/noindex> is gelicenseerd onder GPLv3.
