Het programma lost het probleem op van achtergebleven gegevens in documenten en multimedia-bestanden, die als ongewenst kunnen worden beschouwd voor openbaarmaking. Bijvoorbeeld, in foto's kunnen gegevens over locatie, tijd van opname en apparaat achterblijven, in bewerkte afbeeldingen \u2014 informatie over het type besturingssysteem en de programma's die zijn gebruikt voor bewerking, en in kantoor- en PDF-documenten \u2014 gegevens over de auteur en het bedrijf. De code van het project is geschreven in de programmeertaal Python en <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/0xacab.org\/jvoisin\/mat2\">wordt verspreid<\/a><\/noindex> onder de LGPLv3-licentie. Het project biedt een bibliotheek voor het opschonen van metadata, een commandoregel utility en een set plugins voor integratie met de bestandsbeheerders GNOME Nautilus en KDE Dolphin.<\/p>\n<p>In de nieuwe versie:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Ondersteuning toegevoegd voor SVG- en PPM-formaten;\n<li class=\"l\"> Integratie met de bestandsbeheerder Dolphin gewaarborgd;\n<li class=\"l\"> Verbeterde ondersteuning voor het verwerken van metadata in PPT- en ODT-bestanden, evenals in MS Office-formaten;\n<li class=\"l\"> Compatibiliteit gerealiseerd met Python 3.8;\n<li class=\"l\"> Een modus toegevoegd voor het uitvoeren zonder sandbox-isolatie (standaard is het programma ge\u00efsoleerd van het overige systeem door middel van <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
