De 1.18-tak is backwards compatible op API- en ABI-niveau met de 1.x-releases, maar bevat bovendien een aantal verbeteringen. De compositorserver Weston 8.0, waarin de codebase en voorbeelden voor het gebruik van Wayland in desktopomgevingen en embedded oplossingen worden ontwikkeld, werd <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52252\">gepubliceerd<\/a><\/noindex> eind januari.<\/p>\n<p>Belangrijkste verbeteringen in Wayland 1.18:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Ondersteuning voor het build-systeem Meson is toegevoegd. Mogelijkheid om te bouwen met autotools blijft tot nu toe beschikbaar, maar zal in een van de toekomstige releases worden verwijderd;\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/wayland-project\/wayland\/commit\/493ab79bd2cdf8f9f12fb9e5522200dc668b85e0\">Toegevoegd<\/a><\/noindex> API voor het splitsen van proxyobjecten op basis van tags, waardoor applicaties en toolkits samen een enkele Wayland-verbinding kunnen delen;\n<li class=\"l\"> Het volgen van Wayland-timers in de gebruikersruimte is mogelijk gemaakt, waardoor het aanmaken van een te groot aantal bestandsdescriptors werd uitgesloten;\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/wayland-project\/wayland\/commit\/39852f1146941fa93daf767b4ecfb41b2d11aaef\">Toegevoegd<\/a><\/noindex> de functie wl_global_remove(), die een gebeurtenis voor het verwijderen van een globaal object verzendt zonder het op te schonen. Nieuwe functie <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.freedesktop.org\/wayland\/wayland\/issues\/10\">toe<\/a><\/noindex> maakt het mogelijk om race conditions te voorkomen bij het verwijderen van globale objecten. Dergelijke race conditions konden ontstaan omdat clients niet konden bevestigen dat ze de gebeurtenis voor verwijdering hadden ontvangen. De functie wl_global_remove() biedt de mogelijkheid om eerst de gebeurtenis voor verwijdering te verzenden en daarna met een bepaalde vertraging het object op te schonen.\n<\/ul>\n<p>De status van ondersteuning voor Wayland in applicaties, desktopomgevingen en distributies:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> In Fedora <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50601\">geleverd<\/a><\/noindex> wordt de Wayland-gebaseerde build van Firefox standaard meegeleverd. Problemen met het gebruik van propri\u00ebtaire NVIDIA-binaire stuurprogramma's met Wayland zijn opgelost.<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51771\">De ondersteuning voor<\/a><\/noindex> experimentele mogelijkheid voor het automatisch starten van XWayland bij het proberen om een applicatie op basis van het X11-protocol te draaien.<br \/>\nIn de Wayland-omgeving is de mogelijkheid toegevoegd om X11-applicaties met root-rechten te draaien onder XWayland. In SDL voor Wayland zijn problemen met schaling bij het draaien van oude spellen met lage schermresoluties opgelost. De Qt-bibliotheek voor gebruik in GNOME-omgeving is standaard opgebouwd met ondersteuning voor Wayland;<\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> In <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50644\">Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8<\/a><\/noindex>  als desktop wordt GNOME aangeboden met standaard een Wayland-gebaseerde displaysserver;\n<li class=\"l\"> In de prerelease van GTK 4 in GDK <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50648\">verder gegaan<\/a><\/noindex> implementatie van API's ontwikkeld met het oog op het gebruik van het Wayland-protocol. Er is ondersteuning toegevoegd voor de portal-interface in de GDK-backend voor Wayland voor toegang tot GtkSettings, en voor invoermethoden is ondersteuning aangeboden voor de uitbreiding van het text-input-unstable-v3-protocol;\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50688\">Gestart<\/a><\/noindex> project ter eliminatie van fouten en tekortkomingen in GNOME die zich voordoen bij het werken bovenop Wayland;\n<li class=\"l\"> In XWayland <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50740\">is toegevoegd<\/a><\/noindex> GLX-handler op basis van de EGL-API, waarmee gebruik van de software-renderer swrast kan worden uitgesloten;\n<li class=\"l\"> Een van de ontwikkeldoelen van KDE voor de komende twee jaar <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51443\">vermeld<\/a><\/noindex> de overgang van KDE naar Wayland. De KDE-omgeving die draait op Wayland zal als primaire omgeving worden gemaakt, terwijl de X11-omgeving zal worden gedegradeerd tot opties en optionele afhankelijkheden. In de rapportageperiode in KDE <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51455\">ge\u00efmplementeerd<\/a><\/noindex> ondersteuning voor fractionele schaling bij gebruik van Wayland. De KDE-sessie op basis van Wayland is aangepast voor gebruik met proprietary NVIDIA-stuurprogramma's. Er is nu de mogelijkheid om vensters van applicaties die XWayland en Wayland gebruiken te slepen in drag&amp;drop-modus. In KWin is correcte scrolling met de muiswiel verzekerd in een op Wayland gebaseerd omgeving;\n<li class=\"l\"> In GNOME <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51470\">toegevoegd<\/a><\/noindex> de mogelijkheid om de lancering van XWayland te automatiseren bij een poging om een applicatie te draaien op basis van het X11-protocol (voorheen moest XWayland constant draaien);\n<li class=\"l\">  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51530\">Er is gestart<\/a><\/noindex> met het werk aan het porteren van toepassingen van de gebruikersomgeving MATE voor Wayland. In <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52349\">MATE 1.24<\/a><\/noindex> de afbeeldingviewer Eye of MATE is aangepast voor Wayland en de ondersteuning voor Wayland in het MATE-paneel is verbeterd;\n<li class=\"l\"> In Qt Wayland Compositor <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50907\">geleverd<\/a><\/noindex> ondersteuning voor de linux-dmabuf-unstable-v1 en wp_viewporter-protocollen. In de platformcomponenten van Qt voor Wayland is ondersteuning toegevoegd voor het fullscreen-shell-unstable-v1-protocol;\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50990\">Gepubliceerd<\/a><\/noindex> Waypipe \u2014 een proxy voor het Wayland-protocol, waarmee applicaties op een andere host kunnen worden uitgevoerd;\n<li class=\"l\"> In de gebruikersomgeving <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51353\">Enlightenment 0.23<\/a><\/noindex> is de ondersteuning voor werken onder Wayland aanzienlijk verbeterd;\n<li class=\"l\"> Voor Firefox <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51652\">is ge\u00efmplementeerd<\/a><\/noindex> een nieuwe backend voor Wayland die het DMABUF-mechanisme gebruikt voor het renderen naar texturen;\n<li class=\"l\"> In Ubuntu, in de omgeving op basis van Wayland <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51694\">geleverd<\/a><\/noindex> de mogelijkheid om X11-applicaties met root-rechten uit te voeren onder Xwayland;\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52307\">Voorbereid<\/a><\/noindex> een set patches Wine-wayland en de driver winewayland.drv, die het mogelijk maken om Wine te gebruiken in omgevingen op basis van het Wayland-protocol, zonder gebruik te maken van XWayland en componenten die met X11 te maken hebben;\n<li class=\"l\"> De ontwikkeling van Mir als compositieserver voor Wayland gaat door. In de middelen voor het uitvoeren van Wayland-applicaties in de Mir-omgeving <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50761\">is verhoogd<\/a><\/noindex> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51012\">aantal<\/a><\/noindex> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51277\">ondersteund<\/a><\/noindex> uitbreidingen van het Wayland-protocol.  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51973\">Beoordeeld<\/a><\/noindex> prestatieoptimalisatie van de code die met Wayland te maken heeft, en een nieuw grafisch platform 'wayland' toegevoegd, waarmee Mir als client onder een andere compositie-server van Wayland kan draaien. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52200\">Een<\/a><\/noindex> experimentele ondersteuning voor dynamische lancering van X11-toepassingen in een omgeving op basis van Wayland.\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52239\">Aangepast<\/a><\/noindex> nieuwe releases van de gebruikersomgeving Sway, die Wayland gebruikt;\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> de distributie Lubuntu <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=49151\">heeft gepland<\/a><\/noindex> overgang naar Wayland in 2020.
