Programma <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mypaint\/mypaint\/\">wordt verspreid<\/a><\/noindex> onder GPLv2-licentie, ontwikkeld in Python en C++ met het GTK3-toolkit. Klaar om te gebruiken versies <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/mypaint.org\/downloads\/\">zijn gevormd<\/a><\/noindex> voor Linux (AppImage, Flatpak), Windows en macOS. <\/p>\n<p>MyPaint kan worden gebruikt door kunstenaars die zich bezighouden met digitale schilderkunst en is in sommige toepassingen in staat om te concurreren met algemeen erkende propri\u00ebtaire tekenprogramma's zoals <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.corel.com\/corel\/product\/index.jsp?pid=prod4030123&#038;cid=catalog20038&#038;segid=78\">Corel Painter<\/a><\/noindex> en <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.artrage.com\/\">Artrage<\/a><\/noindex>. De applicatie heeft een eenvoudige, gebruiksvriendelijke interface en wordt niet gepositioneerd als een grafische editor voor beeldbewerking. MyPaint heeft een grote verzameling penselen die echte artistieke gereedschappen kwalitatief simuleren, zoals potlood, olieverf, aquarel, paletmes en meer. Het nieuwe gedrag bij het schilderen doet denken aan het draaien van papier voor de kunstenaar (voorheen werd het schilderen gedaan alsof de kunstenaar met het papier draaide).
