Naast het gebruik van de Debian-pakketbasis is een belangrijk verschil tussen LMDE en Linux Mint de constante updatecyclus van de pakketbasis (model van continue updates: gedeeltelijke rolling release, semi-rolling release), waarbij updates voor pakketten voortdurend worden vrijgegeven en de gebruiker op elk moment kan overschakelen naar de laatste versies van de software. <\/p>\n<p>Distro <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linuxmint.com\/download_lmde.php\">beschikbaar is<\/a><\/noindex> in de vorm van installatie <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/mirror.yandex.ru\/linuxmint\/debian\/\">iso-images<\/a><\/noindex> met de desktopomgeving Cinnamon. Bij de levering van LMDE zijn de meeste verbeteringen van de klassieke release inbegrepen <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52053Linux\">Mint 19.3<\/a><\/noindex>, waaronder originele ontwikkelingen van het project (updatebeheerder, configurators, menu's, interface, systeemsystem GUI-applicaties). De distributie is volledig compatibel met Debian GNU\/Linux, maar niet compatibel op pakketniveau met Ubuntu en de klassieke releases van Linux Mint. <\/p>\n<p>LMDE is gericht op meer technisch onderlegde gebruikers en biedt nieuwere versies van pakketten aan. Het doel van de ontwikkeling van LMDE is om te controleren of Linux Mint kan blijven bestaan in dezelfde vorm, zelfs als de ontwikkeling van Ubuntu zou stoppen.
