Installatie-images van RHEL 7.8  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/downloads\/\">beschikbaar<\/a><\/noindex> voor download alleen voor geregistreerde gebruikers van het Red Hat Customer Portal en voorbereid voor architecturen x86_64, IBM POWER7+, POWER8 (big endian en little endian) en IBM System z. De bronbestanden van de pakketten zijn beschikbaar voor download uit <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.centos.org\/\">Git-repository<\/a><\/noindex> van het CentOS-project. <\/p>\n<p>De tak RHEL 7.x wordt parallel onderhouden met de tak <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50644\">RHEL 8.x<\/a><\/noindex> en wordt ondersteund tot juni 2024. De eerste ondersteuningsfase voor de RHEL 7.x tak, die functionele verbeteringen omvatte, is voltooid. De release van RHEL 7.8 markeerde <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/support\/policy\/updates\/errata\">the transition<\/a><\/noindex> de overgang naar de onderhoudsfase, waarin de prioriteit verschuift naar foutoplossing en beveiliging, met enkele kleine verbeteringen met betrekking tot de ondersteuning van belangrijke hardware systemen. Voor degenen die willen overstappen naar de nieuwe tak, zal na de publicatie van Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 de mogelijkheid worden geboden om het systeem van Enterprise Linux 7.8 te upgraden.<\/p>\n<p>De meest opvallende <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/documentation\/en-us\/red_hat_enterprise_linux\/7\/html-single\/7.8_release_notes\/index\">wijzigingen<\/a><\/noindex>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> De interface voor het schakelen van virtuele werkruimten in de GNOME Classic-omgeving is gewijzigd, de knop voor het schakelen is verplaatst naar de rechteronderhoek en is ontworpen als een strook met miniaturen.\n<li class=\"l\"> Ondersteuning voor nieuwe kernelparameters van Linux is toegevoegd (voornamelijk gerelateerd aan het beheer van bescherming tegen nieuwe aanvallen op de CPU speculatieve uitvoeringsmechanisme): audit, audit_backlog_limit, ipcmni_extend, nospectre_v1, tsx, tsx_async_abort, mitigations.\n<li class=\"l\"> Voor gastsystemen met Windows die ActivClient-stuurprogramma's gebruiken, is de mogelijkheid voor gezamenlijke toegang tot smartcards ge\u00efmplementeerd.\n<li class=\"l\"> Het pakket samba 4.10.4 is bijgewerkt.\n<li class=\"l\"> Implementatie van het SHA-2 algoritme is toegevoegd, geoptimaliseerd voor IBM PowerPC-processors.\n<li class=\"l\"> In OpenJDK is ondersteuning voor encryptie met behulp van elliptische krommen secp256k1 toegevoegd.\n<li class=\"l\"> Volledige ondersteuning voor SAS-adapters Aero (mpt3sas en megaraid_sas stuurprogramma's) is gegarandeerd.\n<li class=\"l\"> Een EDAC (Error Detection and Correction) stuurprogramma voor Intel ICX-systemen is toegevoegd.\n<li class=\"l\"> De mogelijkheid is ge\u00efmplementeerd om partities te monteren met behulp van het FUSE-mechanisme in gebruikersnaamruimten (user namespaces), waarmee bijvoorbeeld het fuse-overlayfs-commando in containers zonder root kan worden gebruikt.\n<li class=\"l\"> De beperking op het aantal IPC-identificatoren (ipcmin_extend) is verhoogd van 32.000 naar 16 miljoen.\n<li class=\"l\"> Volledige ondersteuning voor Intel Omni-Path Architecture (OPA) is gegarandeerd.\n<li class=\"l\"> Een nieuwe rol \"storage\" (RHEL System Roles) is toegevoegd, die gebruikt kan worden om lokaal opslag (bestandssystemen, LVM-volumes en logische schijven) te beheren met Ansible.\n<li class=\"l\"> In SELinux is het toegestaan om een grafische sessie te starten voor gebruikers van de groep sysadm_u.\n<li class=\"l\"> Ondersteuning voor DIF\/DIX (Data Integrity Field\/Data Integrity Extension) is toegevoegd voor bepaalde hostadapters op de bus (HBA). Volledige ondersteuning voor NVMe\/FC (NVMe over Fibre Channel) is toegevoegd aan Qlogic HBA.\n<li class=\"l\">  Experimentele (Technology Preview) ondersteuning voor OverlayFS, Btrfs, eBPF, HMM (heterogene geheugenbeheersystemen), kexec, SME (Secure Memory Encryption), criu (Checkpoint\/Restore in User-space), Cisco usNIC, Cisco VIC, Trusted Network Connect, SECCOMP in libreswan, USBGuard, blk-mq, YUM 4, USB 3.0 in KVM, No-IOMMU voor VFIO, conversies van Debian- en Ubuntu-images via virt-v2v, OVMF (Open Virtual Machine Firmware), systemd-importd, DAX (directe toegang tot het bestandssysteem zonder gebruik van de paginacache zonder het blokapparaatsniveau) in ext4 en XFS, het starten van de GNOME-desktop met Wayland, fractionele schaalverdeling in GNOME.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nieuwe stuurprogrammas zijn opgenomen:\n<ul>\n<li> halt poll cpuidle (cpuidle-haltpoll.ko.xz).\n<li> Intel Trace Hub controller (intel_th.ko.xz).\n<li> Intel Trace Hub ACPI controller
