De ontwikkeling wordt uitgevoerd in overeenstemming met een overeenkomst met SGI, die de volledige reconstructie van alle functies van IRIX Interactive Desktop voor Linux-platforms op x86_64 en ia64 toestaat. De broncode is beschikbaar op speciale aanvraag en bestaat uit een mix van propri\u00ebtaire code (volgens de eisen van de overeenkomst met SGI) en code onder verschillende open licenties. Installatie-instructies <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/maxxinteractive.com\/books\/mid-v21-installation-guide\">poorten voorbereid<\/a><\/noindex> voor Ubuntu, RHEL en Debian.<\/p>\n<p>Aanvankelijk werd IRIX Interactive Desktop geleverd op grafische werkstations van SGI, uitgerust met het besturingssysteem IRIX, waarvan de piek populariteit zich in het einde van de jaren 90 bevond en die tot 2006 werden geproduceerd. De editie van de shell voor Linux  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/maxxinteractive.com\/books\/misc\/page\/not-just-a-theme\">ge\u00efmplementeerd<\/a><\/noindex> bovenop de window manager 5dwm (gebaseerd op de window manager OpenMotif) en de SGI-Motif bibliotheken. De werking van de grafische interface wordt gerealiseerd met het gebruik van OpenGL voor hardwareversnelling en visuele effecten. Bovendien is er multi-threaded verwerking van operaties georganiseerd om de prestaties te versnellen en de belasting van de CPU te verlagen, met rekenkundige taken die worden overgedragen aan de GPU. De desktop is niet afhankelijk van de schermresolutie en gebruikt vector pictogrammen. Meerdere monitorondersteuning, HiDPI, UTF-8 en FreeType-lettertypen worden ondersteund. ROX-Filer wordt gebruikt als bestandsbeheerder.<\/p>\n<p>We zien in de nieuwe uitgave updates van de gebruikte bibliotheken, verfijning van de moderne versie van de interface op basis van SGI Motif, toevoeging van een schakelaar tussen de klassieke en moderne interfaces, ondersteuning van Unicode, UTF-8 en lettergladding, verbetering van de prestaties op systemen met meerdere monitoren, optimalisatie van vensterverplaatsing en -grootte, vermindering van geheugengebruik, een tool voor het wijzigen van thema's, uitgebreide desktopinstellingen, een ge\u00fcpdatete terminalemulator, MaXX Launcher voor vereenvoudigde programma-opstart en ImageViewer voor het bekijken van afbeeldingen.<\/p>\n<p><center><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
