In de nieuwe uitgave is er een grote schoonmaak van de code uitgevoerd \u2014 alle C-code is herschreven en het project bevat nu alleen de bronteksten in de programmeertaal Guile.<\/p>\n<p>Mcron is 100% compatibel met Vixie cron en kan fungeren als een transparante vervanger. Naast het configuratieformaat van Vixie cron biedt Mcron de mogelijkheid om scripts voor periodieke taakuitvoering, geschreven in de Scheme-taal, te defini\u00ebren. De implementatie van Mcron bevat drie keer minder regels code dan Vixie cron. Mcron kan zonder root-privileges worden uitgevoerd om de taken van de huidige gebruiker te verwerken (de gebruiker kan zijn eigen mcron-daemon starten).<\/p>\n<p>Een sleutelfeature van het project is een andere aanpak van het plannen van taken \u2014 in plaats van constante tijdsmonitoring, gebruikt Mcron een lineaire wachtrij voor taken met het bepalen van vertragingen tussen de aanroepen van elk element in de rij. In de periodes tussen de activatie van taken is Mcron volledig inactief.
