De desktop is bijgewerkt naar de release van  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=53726\">GNOME 3.38<\/a><\/noindex>, en de Linux-kernel naar versie <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=53479\">5.8<\/a><\/noindex>. De versies van Python, Ruby, Perl en PHP zijn bijgewerkt. Een nieuwe release van de kantoorsuite LibreOffice 7.0 is voorgesteld. Systeemcomponenten zoals PulseAudio, BlueZ en NetworkManager zijn bijgewerkt.\n<li class=\"l\"> De overgang naar het standaard gebruik van de pakketfilter nftables is gerealiseerd. Voor de achterwaartse compatibiliteit is het pakket iptables-nft beschikbaar, dat dezelfde commando-syntax biedt als iptables, maar de ontvangen regels omzet in bytecode van nf_tables. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=53608\">the transition<\/a><\/noindex> voor standaard gebruik van de pakketfilter nftables. Ter behoud van achterwaartse compatibiliteit is het pakket iptables-nft beschikbaar, dat hulpmiddelen biedt met dezelfde syntaxis als bij iptables, maar de ontvangen regels omzet naar de bytecode van nf_tables.\n<li class=\"l\"> De installatieprogramma Ubiquity heeft de mogelijkheid toegevoegd om authenticatie in Active Directory in te schakelen.\n<li class=\"l\"> Het pakket popcon (popularity-contest) is uit de hoofdset verwijderd, dat werd gebruikt voor het verzenden van geanonimiseerde telemetrie over downloads, installaties, updates en verwijderen van pakketten. Op basis van de verzamelde gegevens werden rapporten samengesteld over de populariteit van applicaties en gebruikte architecturen, die door ontwikkelaars werden gebruikt om beslissingen te nemen over het opnemen van bepaalde programma's in de basislevering. Popcon is sinds 2006 opgenomen, maar sinds de release van Ubuntu 18.04 was dit pakket en de bijbehorende serverback-end niet operationeel.\n<li class=\"l\"> Toegang tot de tool \/usr\/bin\/dmesg <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=53280\">beperkt<\/a><\/noindex> alleen voor gebruikers die deel uitmaken van de groep \"adm\". Als reden wordt vermeld dat er informatie in de dmesg-uitvoer is die door aanvallers kan worden gebruikt om het cre\u00ebren van exploits voor privilege-escalatie te vergemakkelijken. Er is een Mojave-thema toegevoegd met pictogrammen en interface-elementen in macOS-stijl. Een nieuwe applet met een fullscreen-interface voor navigatie door ge\u00efnstalleerde programma's is toegevoegd, die kan worden gebruikt als alternatief voor het toepassingenmenu.
