Ifølge : — distribuert feiltolerant objektlagring , kompatibel med klienter som bruker Amazon S3 API og REST-API, og støtter også NFS-servermodus. Det er optimeringer for lagring av både små og veldig store objekter, det er innebygd caching-mekanisme, og replikering av lagring mellom datasentre er mulig. Prosjektets mål inkluderer å oppnå 99.9999999 % pålitelighet gjennom redundant replikering av duplikater og eliminering av ett enkelt feilpunkt. Prosjektkoden er skrevet i Erlang.
LeoFS består av tre komponenter:
- — betjener operasjoner med å legge til, hente og slette objekter og metadata, er ansvarlig for å utføre replikering, gjenoppretting og kø for klientforespørsler.
