Hvert år deler British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) ut ikke bare filmer og TV-serier, men også videospill. Ofte på BAFTA Games Awards ble ikke prosjekter som vant alle andre priser kåret til årets beste spill: Fallout 4 slo for eksempel The Witcher 3, og i fjor beseiret What Remains of Edith Finch plutselig titanen i møte med The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Men i år var det ingen overraskelser – God of War vant.
Spillet har fem priser totalt - kritikere bemerket også lyddesign, musikk og fortelling, samtidig som de tildelte Jeremy Davies for rollen som Balder. Return of the Obra Dinn vant to statuetter for spilldesign og kunstretning. Nintendo tok hjem to til - Nintendo Labo-sett vant i kategoriene "Best Family Game" og "Most Innovative Game".
Den største overraskelsen var nominasjonen "Beste britiske spill". Det så ut til at Red Dead Redemption 2 ikke hadde noen konkurrenter her, men juryen valgte Forza Horizon 4 fremfor det. Dessuten mottok Rockstars hjernebarn til slutt ikke en eneste pris i det hele tatt.
