W standardowej bibliotece C Glibc zidentyfikowano luk\u0119 (CVE-2025-4802), kt\u00f3ra umo\u017cliwia wykonanie kodu z uprawnieniami innego u\u017cytkownika, przyznawanymi podczas uruchamiania aplikacji z flag\u0105 suid. Niebezpiecze\u0144stwo problemu jest ograniczone ze wzgl\u0119du na warunki, w jakich si\u0119 manifestuje \u2014 deweloperzy Glibc nie byli w stanie znale\u017a\u0107 \u017cadnego programu suid, do kt\u00f3rego mo\u017cna by zastosowa\u0107 zidentyfikowan\u0105 luk\u0119. Nie mo\u017cna jednak wykluczy\u0107, \u017ce w obiegu mog\u0105 by\u0107 stosowane w\u0142asne programy suid spe\u0142niaj\u0105ce warunki przeprowadzenia ataku. <\/p>\n

Exploitation of the vulnerability is only possible for statically compiled suid programs that invoke the dlopen function. In addition to programs that directly call dlopen, the vulnerability also affects programs where the dlopen function is indirectly invoked as a result of setlocale or NSS functions like getaddrinfo. <\/p>\n

The issue is caused by the handling of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable in the context of suid applications when invoking dlopen from statically compiled programs (the LD_LIBRARY_PATH was ignored only during dynamic linking). By setting a path in LD_LIBRARY_PATH, an attacker can arrange to load a replacement library from their directory. The vulnerability appears starting from Glibc version 2.27 (February 2018) and is fixed in Glibc release 2.39 (February 2024).
