Additionally, the development of the EU OS Linux distribution aimed at use in the public sector of the European Union can be noted. The distribution is being developed by enthusiasts who interact with EU governmental bodies and intend to obtain project status from the European Commission. The distribution is based on Fedora Linux, organized as an atomically updatable system image, and comes with the KDE desktop environment.
