G\u0142\u00f3wnym powodem zmiany jest u\u017cycie w rpmdb przestarza\u0142ej wersji Berkeley DB 5.x, kt\u00f3ra nie jest ju\u017c od kilku lat wspierana. Utrudnieniem w przej\u015bciu na nowsze wersje jest <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=37377\">zmiana licencji<\/a><\/noindex> Berkeley DB 6 na AGPLv3, kt\u00f3rej wymogi dotycz\u0105 r\u00f3wnie\u017c aplikacji wykorzystuj\u0105cych BerkeleyDB w postaci biblioteki (RPM <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rpm-software-management\/rpm\/blob\/master\/COPYING\">dostarczany<\/a><\/noindex> na GPLv2, a AGPL <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gnu.org\/licenses\/license-list.en.html#AGPL\">jest niekompatybilna<\/a><\/noindex> z GPLv2).<\/p>\n<p>Poza tym bie\u017c\u0105ca implementacja<br \/>\nrpmdb oparta na BerkeleyDB nie zapewnia wymaganej niezawodno\u015bci, poniewa\u017c nie wykorzystuje transakcji i nie jest w stanie wykrywa\u0107 niezgodno\u015bci w bazie danych. Zmiany niezb\u0119dne do u\u017cycia SQLite zostan\u0105 zaproponowane w wydaniu <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/fedoraproject.org\/wiki\/Changes\/RPM-4.16\">RPM 4.16<\/a><\/noindex>. Aby dokona\u0107 konwersji formatu bazy danych, wystarczy u\u017cy\u0107 polecenia \u201erpmdb \u2014rebuilddb\u201d.<br \/>\nNow\u0105 implementacj\u0119 rpmdb planuje si\u0119 uwzgl\u0119dni\u0107 w Fedora 33, zachowuj\u0105c dla zapewnienia zgodno\u015bci r\u00f3wnie\u017c wsparcie dla BerkeleyDB.
