Na podatnych na t\u0119 podatno\u015b\u0107 procesorach dane zwracane dla SRR osiadaj\u0105 w wsp\u00f3lnym buforze po\u015brednim dla wszystkich rdzeni CPU, a nast\u0119pnie s\u0105 przesy\u0142ane do bufora wype\u0142nienia, zwi\u0105zanego z konkretnym fizycznym rdzeniem CPU, na kt\u00f3rym zosta\u0142a zainicjowana operacja odczytu. Nast\u0119pnie z bufora wype\u0142nienia warto\u015b\u0107 jest kopiowana do rejestr\u00f3w widocznych dla aplikacji. <\/p>\n<p>Rozmiar wsp\u00f3lnego bufora po\u015bredniego odpowiada linii cache, co zazwyczaj jest wi\u0119ksze ni\u017c rozmiar odczytywanych danych, a r\u00f3\u017cne operacje odczytu dotycz\u0105 r\u00f3\u017cnych przesuni\u0119\u0107 w buforze. Zauwa\u017calne jest, \u017ce firma Intel zosta\u0142a poinformowana o podatno\u015bci we wrze\u015bniu 2018 roku, a w lipcu 2019 roku przedstawiono prototyp exploita demonstruj\u0105cego wyciek danych mi\u0119dzy rdzeniami CPU, jednak opracowanie poprawki op\u00f3\u017ani\u0142o si\u0119 z powodu z\u0142o\u017cono\u015bci jej wdro\u017cenia. W dzisiejszej proponowanej aktualizacji mikrokodu problem zosta\u0142 zablokowany poprzez zmian\u0119 zachowania instrukcji RDRAND, RDSEED i EGETKEY na nadmiarowe nadpisywanie danych w wsp\u00f3lnym buforze, aby zapobiec osadzaniu si\u0119 w nim pozosta\u0142ych informacji. Ponadto zastosowano wstrzymanie dost\u0119pu do bufora do zako\u0144czenia operacji odczytu i nadpisania zawarto\u015bci. <\/p>\n<p>Skutkiem ubocznym takiej ochrony jest zwi\u0119kszenie op\u00f3\u017anie\u0144 przy wykonywaniu RDRAND, RDSEED i EGETKEY oraz zmniejszenie przepustowo\u015bci podczas pr\u00f3by jednoczesnego wykonywania tych instrukcji na r\u00f3\u017cnych logicznych procesorach. Wykonanie RDRAND, RDSEED i EGETKEY r\u00f3wnie\u017c wstrzymuje dost\u0119p do pami\u0119ci z innych logicznych procesor\u00f3w. Te cechy mog\u0105 negatywnie wp\u0142yn\u0105\u0107 na wydajno\u015b\u0107 niekt\u00f3rych aplikacji serwerowych, dlatego w oprogramowaniu znajduje si\u0119 mechanizm (RNGDS_MITG_DIS) do
