Com o apoio da FreeBSD Foundation, est\u00e1 sendo desenvolvido um novo instalador para o FreeBSD, que, ao contr\u00e1rio do atualmente utilizado bsdinstall, poder\u00e1 ser usado em modo gr\u00e1fico e ser\u00e1 mais compreens\u00edvel para usu\u00e1rios comuns. No momento, o novo instalador est\u00e1 na fase de prot\u00f3tipo experimental, mas j\u00e1 pode executar opera\u00e7\u00f5es b\u00e1sicas de instala\u00e7\u00e3o. Para aqueles que desejam participar dos testes, uma imagem ISO de instala\u00e7\u00e3o foi preparada, capaz de funcionar em modo Live. <\/p>\n

O instalador \u00e9 escrito em Lua e implementado na forma de um servidor HTTP, que fornece uma interface web. A imagem de instala\u00e7\u00e3o representa um sistema Live, no qual um ambiente de trabalho \u00e9 executado com um navegador web, exibindo a interface do instalador em uma \u00fanica janela. O processo do servidor do instalador e o navegador s\u00e3o iniciados no meio de instala\u00e7\u00e3o e funcionam como backend e frontend. Al\u00e9m disso, \u00e9 oferecida a possibilidade de controlar a instala\u00e7\u00e3o a partir de um host externo. <\/p>\n

O projeto est\u00e1 sendo desenvolvido com uma arquitetura modular. Com base nas op\u00e7\u00f5es selecionadas pelo usu\u00e1rio, um arquivo de configura\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 gerado, que \u00e9 utilizado como script para a instala\u00e7\u00e3o real. Ao contr\u00e1rio dos scripts de instala\u00e7\u00e3o suportados pelo bsdinstall, os arquivos de configura\u00e7\u00e3o do novo instalador t\u00eam uma estrutura mais rigorosa e podem ser usados para criar interfaces alternativas de instala\u00e7\u00e3o.
