Nas vers\u00f5es noturnas do Ubuntu Desktop 21.10, come\u00e7ou o teste de um novo instalador, implementado como uma camada sobre o instalador de baixo n\u00edvel curtin, que j\u00e1 \u00e9 utilizado no instalador Subiquity, empregado por padr\u00e3o no Ubuntu Server. A interface do novo instalador foi projetada levando em considera\u00e7\u00e3o o estilo moderno da \u00e1rea de trabalho do Ubuntu e visa fornecer um processo de instala\u00e7\u00e3o unificado para toda a linha de produtos do Ubuntu. Foram propostos tr\u00eas modos: \"Reparar Instala\u00e7\u00e3o\" para reinstalar todos os pacotes existentes no sistema sem alterar as configura\u00e7\u00f5es, \"Experimentar o Ubuntu\" para conhecer a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o em modo Live e \"Instalar o Ubuntu\" para instalar a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o no disco.

Entre os novos recursos, destaca-se a op\u00e7\u00e3o de escolha entre temas escuro e claro, suporte \u00e0 desativa\u00e7\u00e3o do modo Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) durante a instala\u00e7\u00e3o paralela ao Windows e uma nova interface para particionamento de discos. As op\u00e7\u00f5es de instala\u00e7\u00e3o dispon\u00edveis ainda se limitam \u00e0 escolha entre um conjunto normal e um m\u00ednimo de pacotes a serem instalados. Recursos que ainda n\u00e3o foram implementados incluem a inclus\u00e3o de criptografia de parti\u00e7\u00f5es e a sele\u00e7\u00e3o de fuso hor\u00e1rio. <\/p>\n

O instalador Ubiquity, que foi anteriormente oferecido, foi desenvolvido em 2006 e n\u00e3o recebeu atualiza\u00e7\u00f5es nos \u00faltimos anos.
