De acordo com o plano previamente estabelecido, o GitHub encerrar\u00e1 o suporte para conex\u00f5es a objetos Git usando autentica\u00e7\u00e3o por senha. Essa mudan\u00e7a ser\u00e1 aplicada hoje \u00e0s 19 horas (MSK), ap\u00f3s o que a execu\u00e7\u00e3o direta de opera\u00e7\u00f5es com Git que requerem autentica\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00f3 ser\u00e1 poss\u00edvel atrav\u00e9s do uso de chaves SSH ou tokens (tokens pessoais do GitHub ou OAuth). A exce\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 concedida apenas a contas que utilizam autentica\u00e7\u00e3o de dois fatores e que se conectam ao Git com senha e uma chave adicional. <\/p>\n

A expectativa \u00e9 que o endurecimento das exig\u00eancias de autentica\u00e7\u00e3o proteja os usu\u00e1rios da comprometimento de seus reposit\u00f3rios em caso de vazamento de bases de dados de usu\u00e1rios ou hacks em servi\u00e7os de terceiros onde os usu\u00e1rios tenham utilizado as mesmas senhas do GitHub. Entre os benef\u00edcios da autentica\u00e7\u00e3o via tokens, destacam-se: a possibilidade de gerar tokens separados para dispositivos e sess\u00f5es espec\u00edficas, suporte para revoga\u00e7\u00e3o de tokens comprometidos sem alterar as credenciais, possibilidade de restringir \u00e1reas de acesso atrav\u00e9s do token e seguran\u00e7a dos tokens contra tentativas de for\u00e7a bruta.
