O c\u00f3digo-fonte \u00e9 escrito em C++ e distribu\u00eddo (GitHub, GitFlic) sob a licen\u00e7a GPLv3. A interface gr\u00e1fica \u00e9 constru\u00edda com a biblioteca GTK 4. \u00c9 suportado em sistemas operacionais Linux e Windows. Pacotes prontos foram preparados para Arch Linux (AUR) e distribui\u00e7\u00f5es baseadas na d\u00e9cima plataforma Alt Linux.    <\/p>\n<p>Communist \u2014 um simples mensageiro P2P, projetado para funcionar tanto na rede Internet quanto em redes locais de diversas configura\u00e7\u00f5es. Para estabelecer a comunica\u00e7\u00e3o entre os usu\u00e1rios, \u00e9 utilizada uma combina\u00e7\u00e3o de tabela hash distribu\u00edda (usando a variante DHT, destinada a clientes torrent) e a t\u00e9cnica de UDP hole punch (para intera\u00e7\u00e3o com hosts por tr\u00e1s de tradutores de endere\u00e7os). Protocolos IPv4 e IPv6 s\u00e3o suportados. Todos os dados s\u00e3o armazenados na m\u00e1quina do usu\u00e1rio em formato criptografado e tamb\u00e9m s\u00e3o transmitidos de forma criptografada.
