O desenvolvimento do MariaDB \u00e9 supervisionado pela organiza\u00e7\u00e3o independente MariaDB Foundation, seguindo um processo de desenvolvimento aberto e transparente, sem depender de fornecedores individuais. O MariaDB \u00e9 fornecido em vez do MySQL em muitas distribui\u00e7\u00f5es Linux (RHEL, SUSE, Fedora, openSUSE, Slackware, OpenMandriva, ROSA, Arch Linux, Debian) e implementado em grandes projetos como Wikipedia, Google Cloud SQL e Nimbuzz.      <\/p>\n<p>Melhorias principais no MariaDB 10.10:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Adicionada a fun\u00e7\u00e3o RANDOM_BYTES para obter uma sequ\u00eancia aleat\u00f3ria de bytes de um tamanho especificado.\n<li class=\"l\"> Adicionado o tipo de dados INET4 para armazenar endere\u00e7os IPv4 em representa\u00e7\u00e3o de 4 bytes.\n<li class=\"l\"> Os par\u00e2metros padr\u00e3o da instru\u00e7\u00e3o &#171;CHANGE MASTER TO&#187; foram alterados, agora utilizando o modo de replica\u00e7\u00e3o baseado em GTID (Global Transaction ID), caso o servidor master suporte este tipo de identificadores. A configura\u00e7\u00e3o &#171;MASTER_USE_GTID=Current_Pos&#187; foi considerada obsoleta e deve ser substitu\u00edda pela op\u00e7\u00e3o &#171;MASTER_DEMOTE_TO_SLAVE&#187;.\n<li class=\"l\"> Foram ampliadas as otimiza\u00e7\u00f5es para opera\u00e7\u00f5es de jun\u00e7\u00e3o com um grande n\u00famero de tabelas, incluindo a possibilidade de usar &#171;eq_ref&#187; para unir tabelas em qualquer ordem.\n<li class=\"l\"> Implementados os algoritmos UCA (Unicode Collation Algorithm), definidos na especifica\u00e7\u00e3o Unicode 14, utilizados para determinar regras de ordena\u00e7\u00e3o e compara\u00e7\u00f5es considerando o significado dos caracteres (por exemplo, ao ordenar valores num\u00e9ricos, a presen\u00e7a de um sinal negativo e ponto antes do n\u00famero e diferentes formas de escrita s\u00e3o levadas em conta, enquanto na compara\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o se considera a caixa dos caracteres e a presen\u00e7a de acento).
