O acesso an\u00f4nimo no Tails \u00e9 garantido pelo sistema Tor. Todas as conex\u00f5es, exceto o tr\u00e1fego pela rede Tor, s\u00e3o bloqueadas por padr\u00e3o pelo filtro de pacotes. Para armazenar dados do usu\u00e1rio em modo de persist\u00eancia entre in\u00edcios, \u00e9 utilizado criptografia.
