A vers\u00e3o MariaDB 11.4 \u00e9 classificada como uma vers\u00e3o de suporte a longo prazo e ser\u00e1 mantida por pelo menos 5 anos. Ao mesmo tempo, est\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel o lan\u00e7amento MariaDB 11.5.1, que tem o status de candidato a lan\u00e7amento, e uma nova vers\u00e3o 11.6 foi formada, na qual novas funcionalidades ser\u00e3o desenvolvidas.    <\/p>\n<p>O projeto MariaDB desenvolve um fork do MySQL, mantendo a compatibilidade retroativa e se diferenciando pela integra\u00e7\u00e3o de mecanismos de armazenamento adicionais e capacidades expandidas. O desenvolvimento do MariaDB \u00e9 supervisionado pela organiza\u00e7\u00e3o independente MariaDB Foundation, de acordo com um processo de desenvolvimento aberto e transparente, sem depender de fabricantes individuais. O MariaDB \u00e9 fornecido em vez do MySQL em muitas distribui\u00e7\u00f5es Linux (RHEL, SUSE, Fedora, openSUSE, Slackware, OpenMandriva, ROSA, Arch Linux, Debian) e est\u00e1 integrado em grandes projetos como Wikipedia, Google Cloud SQL e Nimbuzz.       <\/p>\n<p>Entre as mudan\u00e7as na vers\u00e3o MariaDB 11.4 em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com a vers\u00e3o LTS anterior 10.11:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> O otimizador de consultas foi significativamente aprimorado, sendo transferido para um novo modelo de pesos (cost model), que fornece uma previs\u00e3o mais precisa dos pesos de cada plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o de consulta. O modelo anteriormente utilizado era adequado para encontrar o \u00edndice otimizado, mas apresentava problemas com a aplicabilidade de opera\u00e7\u00f5es de varredura de tabela, varredura de \u00edndice ou sele\u00e7\u00e3o por intervalos. No novo modelo, essa limita\u00e7\u00e3o foi eliminada por meio da altera\u00e7\u00e3o do peso base das opera\u00e7\u00f5es relacionadas ao mecanismo de armazenamento. Por exemplo, para opera\u00e7\u00f5es com armazenamento, como varredura sequencial de registros, agora se presume que os dados est\u00e3o armazenados em um r\u00e1pido SSD.
