Aplicativos Silverlight compilados com OpenSilver podem funcionar em qualquer navegador de desktop e m\u00f3vel que suporte WebAssembly, mas a compila\u00e7\u00e3o atualmente s\u00f3 \u00e9 poss\u00edvel no Windows utilizando o Visual Studio. O c\u00f3digo do projeto \u00e9 escrito em C# e distribu\u00eddo sob a licen\u00e7a MIT.       <\/p>\n<p>Em 2021, a Microsoft encerrou o desenvolvimento e o suporte da plataforma Silverlight, favorecendo a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias web padr\u00e3o. Inicialmente, o projeto OpenSilver foi voltado para fornecer ferramentas para prolongar a vida \u00fatil dos aplicativos Silverlight existentes, diante da descontinua\u00e7\u00e3o do suporte pela Microsoft e do fim do suporte a plugins nos navegadores. O OpenSilver suporta todas as principais funcionalidades do mecanismo Silverlight, incluindo suporte completo \u00e0s linguagens C# e XAML, bem como a implementa\u00e7\u00e3o da maior parte da API da plataforma, adequada para o uso de bibliotecas C# como Telerik UI, WCF RIA Services, PRISM e MEF.    <\/p>\n<p>Na sua forma atual, o OpenSilver j\u00e1 ultrapassou o papel de camada para prolongar a vida do Silverlight e pode ser considerado uma plataforma independente para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de novos aplicativos. Por exemplo, o projeto est\u00e1 desenvolvendo um ambiente de desenvolvimento (extens\u00e3o para o Visual Studio), garantindo suporte a novas vers\u00f5es da linguagem C# e da plataforma .NET, al\u00e9m de oferecer compatibilidade com bibliotecas em JavaScript.    <\/p>\n<p>Como base, o OpenSilver utiliza o c\u00f3digo de projetos abertos Mono (mono-wasm) e Microsoft Blazor (parte do ASP.NET Core), e para execu\u00e7\u00e3o no navegador, utiliza a compila\u00e7\u00e3o de aplicativos em c\u00f3digo intermedi\u00e1rio WebAssembly. O OpenSilver continua o desenvolvimento do projeto CSHTML5, que permite compilar aplicativos C#\/XAML\/.NET em representa\u00e7\u00f5es em JavaScript, apropriadas para execu\u00e7\u00e3o no navegador, e expande sua base de c\u00f3digo com recursos para compilar C#\/XAML\/.NET em WebAssembly, em vez de em JavaScript.     <\/p>\n<p>Na nova vers\u00e3o:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Foi proposto um construtor de interface visual que permite projetar interfaces de aplicativos .NET e sites na modalidade de arrastar e soltar, utilizando mais de 100 blocos de interface incorporados.\n<li class=\"l\"> Um assistente de IA foi adicionado, permitindo gerar e modificar interfaces de usu\u00e1rio atrav\u00e9s de comandos em linguagem natural.
