A caracter\u00edstica distintiva da linguagem \u00e9 que todos os dados, incluindo o c\u00f3digo do pr\u00f3prio programa, podem ser representados como strings, o que cria amplas possibilidades para metaprograma\u00e7\u00e3o e cria\u00e7\u00e3o de extens\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>A nova vers\u00e3o cont\u00e9m altera\u00e7\u00f5es incompat\u00edveis com as vers\u00f5es 8.x, por isso foi decidido aumentar o n\u00famero principal da vers\u00e3o:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Na resolu\u00e7\u00e3o dos nomes, agora \u00e9 utilizado apenas o espa\u00e7o de nome atual e n\u00e3o o global;<\/li>\n<li>Os problemas de codifica\u00e7\u00e3o nas fun\u00e7\u00f5es de entrada e sa\u00edda agora lan\u00e7am erros por padr\u00e3o;<\/li>\n<li>O til (~) nos caminhos dos arquivos n\u00e3o aponta mais para o diret\u00f3rio pessoal do usu\u00e1rio;<\/li>\n<li>A vari\u00e1vel tcl_precision n\u00e3o afeta mais a formata\u00e7\u00e3o de n\u00fameros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outras mudan\u00e7as incluem:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foi adicionada suporte para vari\u00e1veis maiores que 2 gigabytes;<\/li>\n<li>A funcionalidade Unicode foi aprimorada;<\/li>\n<li>Suporte para acessar o conte\u00fado de arquivos ZIP como se fossem sistemas de arquivos;<\/li>\n<li>O multiplexing de IO agora suporta epoll (no Linux) e kqueue (no BSD).
