Andrzej Janik apresentou uma atualiza\u00e7\u00e3o do projeto ZLUDA, que desenvolve uma implementa\u00e7\u00e3o aberta da tecnologia CUDA. O objetivo do projeto \u00e9 permitir a execu\u00e7\u00e3o de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es CUDA n\u00e3o modificadas em sistemas com GPUs diferentes das GPUs NVIDIA, com desempenho pr\u00f3ximo ao de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es executadas sem intermedi\u00e1rios. O c\u00f3digo do projeto \u00e9 distribu\u00eddo sob as licen\u00e7as MIT e Apache 2.0. <\/p>\n

ZLUDA 4 \u00e9 apresentado como a primeira vers\u00e3o formada ap\u00f3s a limpeza da base de c\u00f3digo, removendo o c\u00f3digo desenvolvido durante o trabalho de Andrzej na AMD. Desde 2022, Andrzej trabalhou na AMD para criar uma camada de compatibilidade para GPUs AMD com CUDA, mas em 2024 o projeto foi encerrado. De acordo com os termos do contrato e ap\u00f3s obter autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o para publica\u00e7\u00e3o de um representante da AMD, Andrzej tornou p\u00fablico o c\u00f3digo dos desenvolvimentos realizados durante seu tempo na AMD, que possibilitavam a execu\u00e7\u00e3o de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es CUDA sobre a pilha ROCm e o runtime HIP (Heterogeneous-computing Interface for Portability). Em outubro, Andrzej foi for\u00e7ado a retirar o c\u00f3digo do acesso p\u00fablico ap\u00f3s um aviso dos advogados, que deixaram claro que a autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o obtida por e-mail n\u00e3o possui validade legal. <\/p>\n

A nova edi\u00e7\u00e3o do ZLUDA foi formada com base na base de c\u00f3digo que existia antes do in\u00edcio do trabalho de Andrzej na AMD, n\u00e3o est\u00e1 atrelada a GPUs espec\u00edficas e foca na execu\u00e7\u00e3o de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es que utilizam CUDA para acelerar tarefas relacionadas a aprendizado de m\u00e1quina e intelig\u00eancia artificial. O projeto atualmente \u00e9 limitado ao funcionamento em GPUs AMD, mas futuramente ser\u00e1 adaptado para GPUs Intel. A vers\u00e3o ZLUDA 4 \u00e9 escrita na linguagem Rust e \u00e9 voltada para a execu\u00e7\u00e3o do conjunto de testes Geekbench 5. <\/p>\n

A nova vers\u00e3o inclui um novo parser para PTX, uma linguagem intermedi\u00e1ria utilizada nas GPUs NVIDIA. A vers\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 not\u00e1vel pela sua transi\u00e7\u00e3o da emula\u00e7\u00e3o de instru\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas para GPUs NVIDIA de incremento e decremento m\u00f3dulo, agora utilizando instru\u00e7\u00f5es equivalentes das GPUs AMD. Essas mudan\u00e7as resultaram em um aumento de desempenho de cerca de 10% nos testes do Geekbench, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com OpenCL e a vers\u00e3o ZLUDA 3.
