O openSUSE Leap 16 manter\u00e1 as caracter\u00edsticas da distribui\u00e7\u00e3o cl\u00e1ssica, que utiliza pacotes tradicionais, enquanto aqueles que necessitam de um sistema com atualiza\u00e7\u00f5es at\u00f4micas e uma base em modo somente leitura devem utilizar a edi\u00e7\u00e3o openSUSE Leap Micro. Para testes, est\u00e3o dispon\u00edveis builds para as arquiteturas x86_64, ARM64, s390x e PowerPC. O lan\u00e7amento est\u00e1 previsto para outubro de 2025.    <\/p>\n<p>Principais caracter\u00edsticas do openSUSE Leap 16:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Utilizado o novo instalador Agama, not\u00e1vel por separar a interface do usu\u00e1rio dos componentes internos do YaST e fornecer uma interface frontend para gerenciar a instala\u00e7\u00e3o via interface web.\n<li class=\"l\"> Em vez do tradicional stack YaST para gerenciamento do sistema, foi utilizado o pacote Cockpit, e em vez da interface gr\u00e1fica de Software YaST, foi proposta a Myrlyn.\n<li class=\"l\"> A inclus\u00e3o do SELinux como sistema de controle de acesso mandat\u00f3rio est\u00e1 habilitada por padr\u00e3o. O suporte ao AppArmor foi mantido como uma op\u00e7\u00e3o.\n<li class=\"l\"> Decidiu-se fornecer apenas sess\u00f5es gr\u00e1ficas baseadas em Wayland (componentes individuais do X.org ainda permanecem).\n<li class=\"l\"> O suporte ao sistema de inicializa\u00e7\u00e3o SysV foi encerrado. Apenas systemd est\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel.\n<li class=\"l\"> O suporte \u00e0 arquitetura x86-64-v1 foi encerrado. A opera\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 poss\u00edvel apenas em sistemas x86 com a arquitetura x86_64-v2, que \u00e9 suportada por processadores desde cerca de 2009 (a partir do Intel Nehalem) e se distingue pela presen\u00e7a de extens\u00f5es como SSE3, SSE4_2, SSSE3, POPCNT, LAHF-SAHF e CMPXCHG16B.\n<li class=\"l\"> Foram atualizadas as vers\u00f5es: n\u00facleo Linux 6.12, GNOME 48, KDE Plasma 6.3.4, AppArmor 4.1, GIMP 3.0, Cockpit 334.1.\n<li class=\"l\"> Para gerenciar os reposit\u00f3rios, foi utilizado um servi\u00e7o baseado no protocolo RIS (Repository Index Service). Para reduzir o tamanho dos metadados, os reposit\u00f3rios foram divididos para cada arquitetura suportada.
