O projeto \u00e9 utilizado em distribui\u00e7\u00f5es como RHEL, Fedora, SUSE, openSUSE, ALT Linux, Rosa Linux, OpenMandriva, Mageia, PCLinuxOS e Tizen. O c\u00f3digo do RPM \u00e9 distribu\u00eddo sob as licen\u00e7as GPLv2 e LGPLv2. A vers\u00e3o 5 do RPM foi pulada para evitar sobreposi\u00e7\u00f5es com o projeto RPM5, que n\u00e3o est\u00e1 relacionado ao RPM da Red Hat e foi desenvolvido por desenvolvedores independentes.     <\/p>\n<p>Principais mudan\u00e7as no RPM 6.0:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Suporte ao novo formato de pacotes RPM 6, que permite a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de pacotes maiores que 4 GB. O formato RPM 6 utiliza campos de 64 bits, atualizou estruturas relacionadas \u00e0 criptografia e adicionou informa\u00e7\u00f5es MIME sobre arquivos.     <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> O suporte para o formato RPM 3 foi encerrado. O suporte para o formato RPM 4, que utiliza cpio, ser\u00e1 mantido completamente \u2014 as distribui\u00e7\u00f5es poder\u00e3o optar por continuar no formato RPM 4.    <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> A verifica\u00e7\u00e3o de autenticidade dos pacotes com assinatura digital est\u00e1 habilitada por padr\u00e3o.   <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> A ferramenta rpmbuild recebeu suporte para a gera\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica de assinaturas locais durante a constru\u00e7\u00e3o, e a ferramenta rpm adicionou a op\u00e7\u00e3o &#171;--nosignature&#187; para for\u00e7ar a instala\u00e7\u00e3o do pacote sem verificar a assinatura.  <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Foi adicionada a capacidade de utilizar, em vez do GnuPG, a ferramenta Sequoia-sq, escrita em Rust.  <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> O desenvolvimento agora permite o uso da linguagem C++ (C++20), e n\u00e3o apenas da linguagem C.  <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Implementada a possibilidade de usar v\u00e1rias assinaturas OpenPGP para cada pacote.  <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> O suporte para os hashes MD5, SHA1 e DSA foi descontinuado.  <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> As funcionalidades da ferramenta rpmkeys relacionadas ao gerenciamento de chaves foram ampliadas; por exemplo, para atualizar chaves OpenPGP, pode-se usar o comando &#171;rpmkeys --import&#187;.   <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> S\u00e3o utilizados apenas identificadores completos e impress\u00f5es digitais (fingerprints) das chaves OpenPGP.  <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Adicionada a funcionalidade de atualizar chaves j\u00e1 importadas.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nos bindings para a
