O projeto Loss32 desenvolve uma distribui\u00e7\u00e3o Win32\/Linux que combina o n\u00facleo Linux com um ambiente gr\u00e1fico no estilo Windows, constru\u00eddo com base no Wine e nos componentes personalizados do ReactOS. A distribui\u00e7\u00e3o tem como objetivo recriar o ambiente de desktop do Windows e fornecer ferramentas para a execu\u00e7\u00e3o fluida de aplicativos do Windows, mas tamb\u00e9m suporta a execu\u00e7\u00e3o de programas tradicionais do Linux. O primeiro prot\u00f3tipo do Loss32 est\u00e1 previsto para ser publicado ainda este m\u00eas. <\/p>\n

Quanto aos seus objetivos, o projeto \u00e9 muito semelhante ao ReactOS e tamb\u00e9m tenta recriar um sistema operacional no estilo Windows, mas se diferencia ao abrir m\u00e3o do uso do n\u00facleo Windows NT. Segundo os criadores do Loss32, o principal fator que retarda o desenvolvimento do ReactOS \u00e9 a tentativa de criar uma alternativa pr\u00f3pria ao n\u00facleo Windows NT, o que impede de alcan\u00e7ar a devida compatibilidade de hardware, estabilidade e funcionalidade. No Loss32, a decis\u00e3o foi concentrar esfor\u00e7os na cria\u00e7\u00e3o de um ambiente de execu\u00e7\u00e3o para aplicativos do Windows, usando um ambiente de sistema baseado no Debian 13 e no Wine, que funcionam bem. <\/p>\n

Diferente das distribui\u00e7\u00f5es tradicionais do Linux, no Loss32 os componentes do espa\u00e7o do usu\u00e1rio s\u00e3o, sempre que poss\u00edvel, substitu\u00eddos pelo Wine, e o ambiente de desktop \u00e9 baseado em aplicativos e bibliotecas Win32, como explorer.exe e shell32.dll do Wine e do projeto ReactOS. O gerenciador de janelas utilizado \u00e9 o Mutter. O design \u00e9 estilizado para o cl\u00e1ssico interface do Windows usada do final dos anos 1990 at\u00e9 o in\u00edcio dos anos 2010. O sistema permite carregar e executar arquivos .exe com programas do Windows, assim como \u00e9 feito no Windows.
