O novo driver est\u00e1 inclu\u00eddo sob o nome <strong>\u00abntfs\u00bb<\/strong>, que anteriormente era usado para a vers\u00e3o remota do antigo driver, que funcionava em modo somente leitura. At\u00e9 agora, o principal driver NTFS no n\u00facleo permanecia <strong>ntfs3<\/strong>, adicionado alguns anos atr\u00e1s pela Paragon Software.<\/p>\n<p>A nova implementa\u00e7\u00e3o foi desenvolvida pelo desenvolvedor do n\u00facleo <strong>Namjae Jeon<\/strong> , que anteriormente participou do desenvolvimento de <strong>exFAT<\/strong>, <strong>KSMBD<\/strong> e outros subsistemas. O trabalho no driver foi realizado por cerca de quatro anos e representa uma reformula\u00e7\u00e3o do driver NTFS original do n\u00facleo, com uma base de c\u00f3digo mais limpa, \u00e0 qual foram adicionados suporte para grava\u00e7\u00e3o, recursos mais modernos e melhor integra\u00e7\u00e3o com os mecanismos atuais do n\u00facleo Linux.<\/p>\n<p>Entre as vantagens da nova implementa\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e3o <strong>suporte completo para grava\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong>, maior estabilidade em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com <strong>ntfs3<\/strong>, passando por um n\u00famero maior de testes <strong>xfstests<\/strong>, al\u00e9m do uso de recursos modernos do n\u00facleo, como <strong>iomap<\/strong> e <strong>folio<\/strong>. Al\u00e9m disso, para a nova implementa\u00e7\u00e3o foram preparadas utilit\u00e1rios personalizados para <strong>fsck<\/strong>. Segundo os autores, em termos de n\u00edvel de integra\u00e7\u00e3o interna com as capacidades modernas do n\u00facleo, o novo driver parece ser prefer\u00edvel ao atual <strong>ntfs3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Antes de ser inclu\u00eddo na ramifica\u00e7\u00e3o principal, o c\u00f3digo ficou por cerca de dois meses em <strong>linux-next<\/strong>, onde passou por testes e revis\u00f5es adicionais. O volume total da nova e reformulada base de c\u00f3digo \u00e9 estimado em mais de <strong>36 mil linhas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Notavelmente, Linus Torvalds inicialmente rejeitou a primeira tentativa de inclus\u00e3o do novo driver devido a problemas de formata\u00e7\u00e3o <strong>pull request<\/strong> no Git, mas ap\u00f3s o envio da vers\u00e3o corrigida, as altera\u00e7\u00f5es foram finalmente aceitas. Torvalds descreveu o ocorrido como <strong>\u00abntfs resurrection\u00bb<\/strong>. Por\u00e9m, o driver <strong>ntfs3<\/strong> ainda permanece na \u00e1rvore de c\u00f3digos fonte do n\u00facleo, e a nova implementa\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser inclu\u00edda atrav\u00e9s da
