O portal Bleeping Computer entrou em contato com a Mozilla e descobriu<\/a><\/noindex> a posi\u00e7\u00e3o sobre o mecanismo de rastreamento de cliques em hyperlinks usando o atributo «ping<\/a><\/noindex>«, cujo suporte no Firefox ainda est\u00e1 desativado por padr\u00e3o. O interesse pelo atributo «ping» surgiu ap\u00f3s a remo\u00e7\u00e3o<\/a><\/noindex> no Chrome e no Safari das op\u00e7\u00f5es para desativ\u00e1-lo.<\/p>\n

Concordamos que habilitar o atributo «ping», que geralmente \u00e9 utilizado para auditoria de hyperlinks, n\u00e3o \u00e9 uma quest\u00e3o de privacidade, mas sim uma tarefa para melhorar a experi\u00eancia do usu\u00e1rio, oferecendo aos sites uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o de auditoria de hyperlinks mais otimizada, livre da queda de desempenho que caracteriza outros m\u00e9todos de rastreamento de cliques, mencionados em publica\u00e7\u00e3o<\/a><\/noindex> no blog dos desenvolvedores do WebKit. De fato, j\u00e1 suportamos o API sendBeacon<\/a><\/noindex> e a raz\u00e3o pela qual ainda n\u00e3o habilitamos o atributo «ping» — \u00e9 que nossa implementa\u00e7\u00e3o dessa fun\u00e7\u00e3o ainda est\u00e1 n\u00e3o est\u00e1 pronta.<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n

N\u00e3o acreditamos que simplesmente oferecer a op\u00e7\u00e3o de desativar o atributo ping trar\u00e1 uma melhora significativa na privacidade do usu\u00e1rio, pois os sites podem (e frequentemente j\u00e1 fazem) determinar os diversos mecanismos suportados em cada navegador para a auditoria de hyperlinks, e desativar os mecanismos mais «amig\u00e1veis ao usu\u00e1rio» apenas resultar\u00e1 em uma transi\u00e7\u00e3o (fallback) para mecanismos menos «amig\u00e1veis ao usu\u00e1rio», sem desativar a pr\u00f3pria auditoria de hyperlinks.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ao usar o atributo «a href» com «ping=URL», o navegador gera uma requisi\u00e7\u00e3o POST ao URL especificado no atributo, passando atrav\u00e9s do cabe\u00e7alho HTTP_PING_TO informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre a transa\u00e7\u00e3o realizada. Sem o atributo ping, os sites podem implementar a auditoria de hyperlinks substituindo o link real por um link intermedi\u00e1rio ou atrav\u00e9s do envio de informa\u00e7\u00f5es via chamadas XMLHttpRequest ou sendBeacon, que j\u00e1 est\u00e3o em uso no Google Search, ao clicar em links externos na rede social VK e no reposit\u00f3rio de complementos do navegador addons.mozilla.org. Como essa substitui\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser realizada ocultando o link intermedi\u00e1rio com JavaScript, assim como no caso do atributo ping, sem a an\u00e1lise do c\u00f3digo n\u00e3o \u00e9 poss\u00edvel entender se uma auditoria est\u00e1 sendo aplicada ao link atual ou n\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
