O novo controlador se destaca pela transfer\u00eancia da contabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de slab do n\u00edvel de p\u00e1ginas de mem\u00f3ria para o n\u00edvel de objetos do n\u00facleo, permitindo o uso compartilhado de p\u00e1ginas slab em diferentes cgroups, em vez da aloca\u00e7\u00e3o de caches slab separados para cada cgroup. <\/p>\n<p>A abordagem proposta permite aumentar a efici\u00eancia do uso do slab, reduzindo em 30-45% o tamanho da mem\u00f3ria ocupada para slab e diminuindo significativamente o consumo total de mem\u00f3ria pelo n\u00facleo. Com a redu\u00e7\u00e3o do n\u00famero de slabs n\u00e3o m\u00f3veis, tamb\u00e9m h\u00e1 um efeito positivo na redu\u00e7\u00e3o da fragmenta\u00e7\u00e3o de mem\u00f3ria. O novo controlador de mem\u00f3ria simplifica consideravelmente o c\u00f3digo para contabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de slabs e n\u00e3o requer algoritmos complexos para cria\u00e7\u00e3o e remo\u00e7\u00e3o din\u00e2mica de caches slab para cada cgroup. Todos os cgroups para mem\u00f3ria na nova implementa\u00e7\u00e3o utilizam um conjunto comum de caches slab, e a vida \u00fatil dos caches slab n\u00e3o est\u00e1 mais ligada ao tempo de vida dos estabelecidos atrav\u00e9s do cgroup <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kernel.org\/doc\/Documentation\/cgroup-v1\/memory.txt\">restri\u00e7\u00f5es<\/a><\/noindex> no uso de mem\u00f3ria.<\/p>\n<p>O novo controlador slab, que permite um monitoramento mais preciso dos recursos, teoricamente deveria sobrecarregar mais a CPU, mas na pr\u00e1tica as diferen\u00e7as se mostraram insignificantes. Em particular, o novo controlador slab tem sido utilizado nos servidores de produ\u00e7\u00e3o do Facebook h\u00e1 v\u00e1rios meses, lidando com diferentes tipos de carga, e ainda n\u00e3o foram identificados regressos significativos. Ao mesmo tempo, h\u00e1 uma redu\u00e7\u00e3o substancial no consumo de mem\u00f3ria \u2014 em alguns hosts, foi poss\u00edvel economizar at\u00e9 1GB de mem\u00f3ria, mas esse resultado depende fortemente da natureza da carga, do tamanho total da RAM, do n\u00famero de CPUs e das caracter\u00edsticas do uso de mem\u00f3ria. Testes realizados anteriormente <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/lwn.net\/Articles\/798605\/\">foi apresentado<\/a><\/noindex> mostraram uma redu\u00e7\u00e3o no consumo de mem\u00f3ria de 650-700 MB (42% da mem\u00f3ria slab) na frente web, 750-800 MB (35%) em um servidor com cache de banco de dados e 700 MB (36%) em um servidor DNS.<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
