Para implementar a iniciativa proposta, a Funda\u00e7\u00e3o ARDC (Amateur Radio Digital Communications) j\u00e1 concedeu \u00e0 SFC uma doa\u00e7\u00e3o de 150 mil d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n<p>As atividades est\u00e3o planejadas em tr\u00eas dire\u00e7\u00f5es:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sfconservancy.org\/copyleft-compliance\/enforcement-strategy.html\">Coer\u00e7\u00e3o<\/a><\/noindex> dos fabricantes para cumprir a GPL e corrigir as viola\u00e7\u00f5es existentes.\n<li class=\"l\"> Realiza\u00e7\u00e3o, junto com outras organiza\u00e7\u00f5es, de uma campanha promocional para mostrar que a conformidade de um produto com a GPL \u00e9 um aspecto importante para a prote\u00e7\u00e3o da privacidade e dos direitos dos consumidores.\n<li class=\"l\"> Desenvolvimento do projeto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sfconservancy.org\/copyleft-compliance\/firmware-liberation.html\">Firmware Liberation<\/a><\/noindex> para criar firmwares alternativos.\n<\/ul>\n<p>De acordo com Bradley Kuhn, diretor executivo da SFC, os esfor\u00e7os anteriores para convencer da necessidade de conformidade com a GPL, realizados atrav\u00e9s da conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o e informa\u00e7\u00e3o, n\u00e3o foram eficazes e atualmente na ind\u00fastria de dispositivos de Internet das Coisas, h\u00e1 uma ignor\u00e2ncia generalizada em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao cumprimento dos requisitos da GPL. Sem essas a\u00e7\u00f5es, o usu\u00e1rio perde o controle sobre o software. Para corrigir erros, remover funcionalidades indesejadas para proteger sua privacidade ou substituir o firmware, o usu\u00e1rio deve ter a capacidade de fazer modifica\u00e7\u00f5es e reinstalar o software nos dispositivos.<\/p>\n<p>No \u00faltimo ano, a organiza\u00e7\u00e3o SFC identificou uma s\u00e9rie de viola\u00e7\u00f5es da GPL por fabricantes de eletr\u00f4nicos embarcados, com os quais n\u00e3o tem conseguido chegar a um acordo pac\u00edfico, tornando inevit\u00e1veis as disputas judiciais. Planeja-se selecionar um desses infratores, que n\u00e3o fornecem o c\u00f3digo necess\u00e1rio para a recompila\u00e7\u00e3o e instala\u00e7\u00e3o do Linux, e realizar um processo judicial exemplar nos EUA. Caso a viola\u00e7\u00e3o seja corrigida pelo r\u00e9u, todas as exig\u00eancias sejam atendidas e um compromisso de cumprimento da GPL seja fornecido no futuro, a SFC est\u00e1 pronta para encerrar imediatamente o processo judicial.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m do trabalho para for\u00e7ar o cumprimento da GPL, no \u00e2mbito do projeto Firmware Liberation, planeja-se selecionar uma determinada classe de produtos da categoria de solu\u00e7\u00f5es embarcadas baseadas em Linux e criar firmwares alternativos livres para eles, baseados no c\u00f3digo aberto pelo fabricante como resultado da corre\u00e7\u00e3o das viola\u00e7\u00f5es da GPL, assim como foi criado o projeto OpenWrt a partir do c\u00f3digo do firmware para o WRT54G. Em \u00faltima an\u00e1lise, a experi\u00eancia de criar projetos t\u00e3o bem-sucedidos como <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/openwrt.org\/\">OpenWrt<\/a><\/noindex> e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.samygo.tv\/\">SamyGo<\/a><\/noindex>, est\u00e1 planejada para ser transferida para outras categorias de dispositivos.<\/p>\n<p>Observa-se que a organiza\u00e7\u00e3o SFC identificou viola\u00e7\u00f5es da GPL em firmwares Linux para dispositivos como geladeiras, bab\u00e1s eletr\u00f4nicas, assistentes virtuais, pain\u00e9is de som, campainhas, c\u00e2meras de seguran\u00e7a, sistemas automotivos, receivers AV e TVs. Criar firmwares alternativos para esses dispositivos ou unir esfor\u00e7os com projetos existentes de desenvolvimento de firmwares alternativos, cuja opera\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 dificultada pela falta de modifica\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas dos dispositivos, levar\u00e1 \u00e0 amplia\u00e7\u00e3o da liberdade dos usu\u00e1rios desses dispositivos.<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
