Cassidy Blaede, co-founder of the elementary OS distribution, announced his departure from the project. Since 2018, Cassidy has been working full-time on the development of elementary OS. Initially, due to financial issues at elementary Inc, Cassidy sought new employment to free up resources spent on his salary and to continue contributing to the elementary OS community while maintaining his role as co-owner of the company (the proposed job was related to open-source development and allowed him to dedicate some time to elementary OS).
Due to a conflict with another co-founder, Cassidy ultimately decided to leave the project entirely. He transferred his shares in elementary Inc to Danielle Foré, who is now the sole owner. The terms of the deal are not disclosed, but it seems that Cassidy agreed to Danielle's conditions and received half of the funds remaining in the company's account. After leaving the project, Cassidy intends to devote his efforts in the community to the development of GNOME, Flatpak, and Flathub.
