Recent days marked the 20th anniversary of Longsys, the largest Chinese OEM and ODM manufacturer of various flash drives. During the festive events, it was a lot of interesting things. In particular, among many partners for the supply of flash chips and controllers, the company Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) was named. Recall that this is China's first manufacturer of multilayer 3D NAND flash memory. Currently, YMTC supplies limited batches of 32-layer 3D NAND and is preparing for the production of 64-layer chips by the end of the year. Using YMTC chips, Longsys plans to soon start producing '100% Chinese' flash drives.

For SSD controllers and memory cards, Longsys also uses developments from Chinese companies. These controllers are from developers such as Yeetor Microelectronics and Maxio Technology. Chip packaging will be handled by companies Payton Technology and Zhen Kun Technology. Together with local partners, Longsys intends to foster a memory chip, controller, and related product manufacturing industry in China. At the same time, it should not be assumed that the company does not consider exporting this product abroad. As early as 2017, Longsys Micron's flash drive business and the well-known brand Lexar. In the USA, Europe, and other regions of the world, this fully Chinese product may appear under the familiar brand there and will not evoke rejection.

Returning to YMTC memory, we clarify that in November 2018, Longsys signed a strategic partnership agreement with Tsinghua Unigroup, the 'mother' of YMTC. The latter, through its subsidiaries, plans to supply Longsys with both YMTC-manufactured memory and Intel memory from the Dalian plant. It will be interesting to see if the use of YMTC and Intel memory will be noted on Longsys flash drives in some way.
