As a result of the vulnerability assessment, support for the scrolling buffer has been removed from the vgacon and fbcon drivers. With the new kernel versions, console scrolling using Ctrl-PgUp/PgDn will no longer be possible.
Linus Torvalds promises to return the code to the kernel if a new maintainer is found to check for buffer overflows. It seems that all developers have moved to graphical interfaces, and the plain console is rarely used now.
