Proiectul Wine ia în considerare transpunerea dezvoltării pe platforma GitLab

Alexander Julliard, creator and leader of the Wine project, announced the launch of an experimental collaborative development server gitlab.winehq.org, based on the GitLab platform. Currently, all projects from the main Wine repository as well as utilities and content from the WineHQ site are hosted on the server. The new service allows for submitting merge requests.

Additionally, a gateway has been launched that broadcasts wine-devel mailing list comments from GitLab and submitted merge requests, meaning all activities related to Wine development continue to be reflected in the mailing list. A separate project, wine-demo, has been created for exploring GitLab development and experiments, where users can test submitting merge requests or applying handler scripts without impacting the actual code or cluttering the wine-devel mailing list.

It is noted that using GitLab for Wine development is still experimental, and a final decision on migrating to GitLab has not yet been made. If developers decide that GitLab is not suitable for them, attempts will be made to use another platform. A description of the workflow being proposed when using GitLab as the primary platform for Wine development has also been published, detailing that patches are submitted as merge requests, tested in a continuous integration system, and forwarded to the wine-devel mailing list for discussion, with reviewers being assigned either automatically or manually to check and approve changes.
