\u00cen componenta Polkit, folosit\u0103 \u00een distribu\u021biile pentru organizarea ac\u021biunilor utilizatorilor f\u0103r\u0103 privilegii care necesit\u0103 drepturi de acces ridicate (de exemplu, montarea unui mediu USB), a fost descoperit\u0103 o vulnerabilitate (CVE-2021-3560) care permite unui utilizator local s\u0103 ob\u021bin\u0103 drepturi de root \u00een sistem. Vulnerabilitatea a fost remediat\u0103 \u00een versiunea Polkit 0.119. <\/p>\n

Problema apare \u00eencep\u00e2nd cu lansarea 0.113, dar multe distribu\u021bii, inclusiv RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian \u0219i SUSE, au inclus func\u021bionalitatea vulnerabil\u0103 \u00een pachete bazate pe versiuni mai vechi de Polkit (corec\u021biile pachetelor sunt deja disponibile \u00een distribu\u021bii). <\/p>\n

Problema se manifest\u0103 \u00een func\u021bia polkit_system_bus_name_get_creds_sync(), care ob\u021bine identificatorii (uid \u0219i pid) procesului care solicit\u0103 cre\u0219terea privilegiilor. Procesul este identificat de Polkit prin atribuirea unui nume unic \u00een DBus, care este folosit ulterior pentru verificarea privilegiilor. Dac\u0103 procesul se deconecteaz\u0103 de la dbus-daemon chiar \u00eenainte de a lansa handlerul polkit_system_bus_name_get_creds_sync, handlerul prime\u0219te un cod de eroare \u00een loc de numele unic. <\/p>\n

Vulnerabilitatea este cauzat\u0103 de faptul c\u0103 codul de eroare returnat nu este gestionat corespunz\u0103tor, iar func\u021bia polkit_system_bus_name_get_creds_sync() returneaz\u0103 TRUE \u00een loc de FALSE, de\u0219i nu a reu\u0219it s\u0103 asocieze procesul cu uid\/pid \u0219i s\u0103 verifice privilegiile solicitate pentru proces. Codul din care a fost apelat\u0103 func\u021bia polkit_system_bus_name_get_creds_sync() consider\u0103 c\u0103 verificarea a fost efectuat\u0103 cu succes \u0219i c\u0103 solicitarea de cre\u0219tere a privilegiilor a venit de la root, nu de la un utilizator f\u0103r\u0103 privilegii, ceea ce permite executarea de ac\u021biuni privilegiate f\u0103r\u0103 autenticare suplimentar\u0103 \u0219i confirmarea autorit\u0103\u021bilor.
